Korean Is The Only East Asian Language With A Double Digit Decline In Label Translation Requests

Proprietary RxTran Data Also Shows Pashto and Farsi Middle Eastern Languages Experiencing Greater Than 100% Year-over-Year Growth In The Same Period

Boston, MA – Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 – RxTran, a division of Language Scientific, today released its latest proprietary year-over-year prescription label translation data, revealing significant shifts in pharmacy label translation requests across the United States. While demand for several Middle Eastern surged, Korean was the only East Asian language to show double-digit declines in the same period.

Languages Showing Significant Growth Within RxTran’s Proprietary Prescription Label Dataset

(Q3 2025 vs Q3 2024)

  • Amharic requests grew 165%
    • Farsi requests grew 179%
    • Burmese requests grew 549%
    • Pashto requests grew 100%

These figures highlight the expanding need for translation support in immigrant and refugee communities, particularly those from the Middle East.

Languages Showing Significant Declines

  • Romanian requests fell 21%
    • Korean requests decreased 22%
    • German requests declined 18%
    • Armenian requests dropped 18%
    • Haitian Creole requests decreased 13%

The decline in Korean requests is particularly notable, marking the only East Asian language to show double-digit decreases year-over-year.

Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Patient Implications

“The latest dataset underscores shifting demographics and evolving translation needs in the U.S. LEP population.” said Sharon Blank, CEO of RxTran.  While demand for European languages such as Romanian and German is slowing, requests for Middle Eastern languages are expanding rapidly.

These demographic changes highlight the importance of accurate, culturally appropriate translations to ensure patient safety and compliance.  “Our mission is to ensure every patient, regardless of the primary language they speak, can safely understand and use their medications,” said Blank.
