RxTran Expands Languages Provided for Written, Translated Prescription Directions

RxTran expands translation languages provided to help pharmacies communicate with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients.

In celebration of National Pharmacist Day, January 12th, RxTran announces it has expanded its language capacity for written translated SIGs (prescription instructions) from 11 to 17 languages. RxTran’s content database of SIG translations helps pharmacists communicate prescription and drug safety information to a growing number of non-English speaking customers.

National Pharmacist Day celebrates pharmacists as members of one of the most trusted professions. Pharmacists take time with customers to explain all aspects of prescribed medications and potential side-effects. However, when clients and patients do not fully understand those explanations and instructions due to Limited English Proficiency (LEP), the results can be disastrous.

According to a 2007 study, prescription non-adherence is responsible for 22% of all hospitalizations nationwide.

“At RxTran, we recognize the importance of pharmacists in safeguarding people’s medical and prescription care,” says Brian Kratt, CEO of RxTran. “We partner with pharmacists to ensure customers have basic understanding of prescription information and instructions.”

RxTran has enhanced its suite of software and services to help pharmacists overcome language barriers. For a low monthly subscription, RxTran’s software as a service (SaaS) offers an online library of pre-translated prescription drug label information in 17 languages to print (either directly onto prescription labels or in a supplemental form) and distribute to patients with LEP. These translations have been rigorously reviewed through RxTran’s 5-step Quality Control Process.

RxTran now offers written translations in: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese.

RxTran also provides on-demand phone (verbal) interpreting in over 150 languages, allowing pharmacists to dial a toll-free number and be able to communicate with non-English speaking customers within seconds.

RxTran enables pharmacists to maintain legislative compliance, reach untapped markets and be competitive with the growing number of non-English speaking customers.
